The 7th Report Meeting, at which reports were presented on the findings of research funded with grants under the "Creation of Industrial Infrastructure" program, was held at the Canon Global Management Institute (CGMI) on Thursday, August 9, 2018.

In his opening address, Chairman Hiroyuki Yoshikawa made the following remarks: "To produce research that is truly useful for industry, it is not enough for us to publish research papers and then leave the rest up to industry; we must reach over that barrier ourselves. This is why presenting research findings at this venue in front of screening committee members, researchers, Canon stakeholders, and many other attendees is a valuable opportunity other foundations do not provide. I look forward to lively presentations and discussions today for the further advancement of new research, as researchers, including screening committee members, form ties that will last into the future."

The opening address was followed by four sessions of reports on findings from 16 research studies that were completed in March 2018. Members of the specialized screening committee chaired each session, and researchers gave thought-provoking presentations followed by substantive question-and-answer periods.

The report meeting concluded with Yoshihito Osada, Chief of the Screening Committee, who gave general comments on the report meeting and expressed his hopes for the researchers in their future activities.

After the report meeting a vibrant social gathering was held, during which attendees exchanged lively comments and ideas.
