Message from the Chairman
I have been appointed as successor to Hiroyuki Yoshikawa, former Chairman of the Canon Foundation. As the new Chairman, I will do my very best to support the Canon Foundation however I can, and I look forward to your continued guidance and support.
The Canon Foundation was established in 2008 to mark the 70th anniversary of Canon Inc., and we have supported research that contributes to the advancement of science and technology. We have produced excellent results in each field of research, and we believe that we have made significant contributions to the development of science and technology.
Since we embarked upon the 11th year of our establishment, the Canon Foundation has implemented two research grant programs — “Science and Technology that Achieve a Good Future,” which aims to resolve society’s problems for the benefit of the future, and “Science and Technology that Create New Industries,” which aims to transform industrial structures.
Through these programs, we will continue to support the efforts of “researchers who independently conceive of new value for the future and break new ground in the unknown science and technologies that are needed to realize this value.”
We will work hard to bring further success from our wide range of activities, including the above research grants, and in doing so contribute to the future of both Japan and the whole world through the growth of the Canon Foundation. Your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.
Yuichiro Anzai
Chairman
